BIOGRAPHY
Elizabeth Zharoff, soprano, was born and raised in
Wenatchee, Washington. At a young age, Ms. Zharoff determined to pursue a
career in music. Since then, she has studied at various institutions in the
United States, France, and China, and obtained her bachelor’s degree in vocal
performance from Oberlin Conservatory in May 2009. She is currently pursuing a
master’s degree in opera at The Curtis Institute of Music, where she sings
under the tutelage of Marlena Malas.
In
opera, Ms. Zharoff continually expands her repertoire. Her most recent roles
include Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Treviso Spa
Opera, the Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen, Amina in La Sonnambula,
Cleopatra in Antony & Cleopatra, and Anne Trulove in The Rake's
Progress with Curtis Opera Theater. Other roles Ms. Zharoff has performed
include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Drusilla in L'incorinazione di
Poppea with Oberlin Opera Theater, Anna Maurrant in The Street Scene with
Pacific Lutheran University Opera, and Melissa in Princess Ida with the
Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Upcoming roles include Konstanze and
Pamina with the Opera Company of Philadelphia, and Elizabeth in Elegy for
Young Lovers with Curtis Opera Theater.
Ms.
Zharoff is also a successful as a competitor and concert artist. In addition to
being named a Semi-Finalist for the Metropolitan National Council Auditions in
2009, Ms. Zharoff has won prizes in the Palm Beach Opera Competition, Akron
Tuesday Musical Association Voice Competition, and first place in the Harold
Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition. She is also a 2011 recipient of a Sara
Tucker Study Grant. She made her Carnegie Hall solo debut in January 2009, in
the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition Winners' Recital. Ms. Zharoff
has also appeared in concert with the Cleveland Orchestra, Opera Theater of
Saint Louis, Yakima Symphony, Lake Chelan Bach Festival, and the Van Cliburn
Foundation.
